Bilbo’s riddle: “A box without hinges, key, or lid; Yet golden treasure inside is hid.”
Answer: Eggs. Butternut Squash!
1 cup (heaped) butternut squash
½ cup water
2 cups GF flour
¼ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
[I usually halve one butternut squash lengthwise; then roast it in the oven. I scoop the squash out of the rind in order to get the one cup used in this recipe.]
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large mixing bowl, mix together the squash and water. Stir in the other ingredients until smooth. Pour batter into an 8×8-inch pan, and then bake for about 30 minutes.
Be sure to cut a lot of bars and hoard them all. Mine seem to keep mysteriously disappearing…
I wonder why? Isn’t biting the best way to identify real gold?
