March 14^{th} is Pi Day! It’s also the birthday of Albert Einstein.

In honor of Pi Day, today’s post highlights a pertinent book about mathematics.

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that mathematics is difficult,” writes mathematics professor Eugenia Cheng, with as much tongue-in-cheek as Austen’s original statement. In *How to Bake Pi*, Cheng explains that math makes things easier, and she peppers the book with recipes too.

As you can see in the publisher’s summary below, Cheng even manages to weave *Cinderella* into her discussion. Out of all the young ladies in the kingdom, the prince trusts that the subset of “ladies fitting the slipper” consists* only* of Cinderella.
